Walter Avellaneda Jr. is a composer, conductor, educator, and bass trombonist whose work is rooted in expressive storytelling and a deep belief in music’s ability to hold memory, meaning, and human connection.

His career has included conducting at Carnegie Hall, international performance work, and bass trombone performance in the Emmy-winning Defiant Requiem, recorded in Prague. As an educator, he has spent his career helping young musicians discover both discipline and personal voice through ensemble music-making.

His recent compositions explore love, grief, remembrance, faith, family, and the quiet emotional spaces that remain after words end.
